Uma Wang formerly studied textiles at China Textile University in Shanghai, before moving to London to pursue a fashion design degree at Central Saint Martin’s. Prior to launching her namesake label, UMA WANG, in 2005, Uma had worked as an in-house designer for several Chinese labels, which she credits for having honed her skills in textiles and patterns. The Shanghai-based brand has since established a loyal following taken by Wang’s vision of rugged elegance manifested in designs that bridge the void between the ascetic and the sensual. Uma Wang is manufactured in Italy in close collaboration with local textile mills. Uma’s collections come in a serene palette of neutrals, often adorned with big prints, raw edges, and immersive textures. Cherished as one of China’s most influential brands, UMA WANG expertly presents her cohesive vision season after season. Uma Wang also shares her creativity with RIGARDS, the natural eyewear specialist, using natural materials to create unique frames in unrepeatable appearance, colour and finish.
